“Growing up I always knew that I wanted a lot of babies, and that’s what I got- a lot of babies- nine in all.”

I would like to say that I was one of those women that intuitively figured everything out, but basically I learned a lot of things the hard way.

From nightmare births to sleepless nights with a newborn- I kept plugging along thinking that suffering and stress was part of being a new parent and raising kids.

Although there were a few stressful times, the picture I began to see was how amazing it was to have a child and see it grow into adulthood. To me it was like watching a  famous painter create an amazing masterpiece… and guess what?– I got to be directly involved in the process.

The question that I kept asking myself was this: ‘If this process can be so wonderful, then how can I have this amazing experience and make it 100 percent easier from start to finish?’ Answering this question led me to studies on prenatal nutrition and conception, and eventually to Doula birth support and postpartum sleep support with parents and new babies. This was such an amazing process. It was like my Doula partner Marinda and I were birthing a new way of experiencing pregnancy and parenthood, and a new understanding of  how to more fully support the couples that we worked with. We had to have it all and be able to give it all to every one of our clients.

I love the smiles I see on my clients faces when I show them how they can have babies and truly enjoy the whole process from start to finish. I love to see the way our couples bond with their newborns and come away feeling confident in their ability to handle their newborns as they progress into toddlers and young children. I love going into a home and finding ways to help make a family’s life easier through the whole process of conception through toddler-hood.

I am a Maternity Consultant, a Monitrice (advanced Doula), a Newborn Care Specialist, an Infant Care Specialist, a Sleep Support Expert, and much, much more. More importantly I consider myself  to be a life coach in everything baby related.

“I love what I do…and it shows in my work and in the families I work with…”

“I love walking into a home, and helping a parent find sleep, peace, and a happy well-adjusted newborn.”

Growing up in a large family, and with a mother who always talked about how amazing her birth experiences were, I was ingrained with a very positive view of birth. When it came time for me to begin having my own children I began researching my natural birth options and discovered the incredible benefits of having a Doula present during birth. I was very inspired by the positive experiences women were having during Doula assisted births, so as I prepared for my first birth I also began training as a Doula.

My first birth brought with it many unexpected events, and after many sleepless nights, crying sessions that lasted almost an hour, and a newborn who cried for 3 days straight, my journey as an expert in all things newborn related had begun. The experience of my birth and the first 2 months postpartum lead me to further my birth training and advance my postpartum education in anticipation of helping other soon to be moms.

Now an advocate for all mothers, and especially for VBACs and VBAC education; I find purpose in teaching expectant mothers how to best prepare for any type of birth, while lessening their chances of having an unplanned cesarean.

I became a Doula to help women through pregnancy, birth, and the newborn phase, because I know that this time can be difficult, scary, and full of unknowns. I also know that with great support this time can be exciting, and full of peace and a sense of calm because you know that you are fully supported in a way that is custom fit for you.

” I am truly passionate about helping new parents find their own strength and sense of accomplishment in those first few months after bringing their baby home.”
